RÉSUMÉ

La demande croissante de traitement orthodontique rapide, surtout de la part de la population adulte, qui a recours de plus en plus à l’orthodontie, a généré des nouvelles solutions thérapeutiques. La corticotomie reprend un concept plus ancien, qui dit que c’est la densité de la structure du cortex alvéolaire qui fait obstacle au mouvement dentaire. L’orthodontie a besoin de ce mouvement dentaire, d’où la nécessité de désorganiser ce cortex via la chirurgie. Le processus de déminéralisation/reminéralisation osseuse (RAP) est localisé dans l’espace, selon la zone traitée et dans le temps, car il ne dure que quelque mois. C’est donc cette période que l’orthodontiste va mettre à profit pour optimiser le temps de traitement.
